The Roaring Twenties marked the emergence of a new era of independence and progress, as the cityscape transitioned from low-rise townhouses to a skyline defined by grand architectural achievements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The building, originally commissioned by businessman and philanthropist August Heckscher, was designed by the legendary architects Warren and Wetmore, best known for Grand Central Terminal. They overcame strict construction regulations of the time to create a neoclassical structure with French Renaissance elements, crowned with a copper tower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Crown Building\u2019s 12-foot gilded weathervane in the shape of a rooster served as a symbol of progress until it was melted down for the war effort in 1942. This marked the beginning of an ambitious project to restore the Crown Building and transform it into Aman New York. The project was completed in August 2022, unveiling a luxurious retreat in the heart of Manhattan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lower floors of the building remain occupied by prestigious retail brands, while the seventh floor and above are home to 83 elegant hotel suites and 22 Aman Residences.
